Barbara Jean (Lyons) Carter

Barbara Jean Carter, 90, of Taylor Springs, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 2:55 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Jon Wagahoff, Pastor of Blessed Hope Baptist Church of Raymond, IL will officiate.

Mrs. Carter was born November 5, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana to Robert and Thelma (Griffith) Lyons. They have both preceded in death. She graduated high school in South Bend, Indiana and in 1950 she married Arthur “Bud” Carter, He preceded in death May 3, 2009. They lived in Litchfield, IL, Parr, TX, and in 1992 They moved back to Hillsboro, IL. She loved traveling with Bud in their camper and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her children: Pamela Ferguson of Hillsboro, IL; Patricia (husband, Robert) Landry of Port Townsend, Washington; Garry Carter of Florida; Robert (wife, Tina) Carter of Mount Olive, IL. Her grandchildren: Cory, Sarah, Adam, Stacy, Michelle, Karyn, and Kyle; Step-Grandchildren: Chistina, Tawny, and Eric; also nine great-grandchildren and sister Carol Koss of Muncie, IN.

She is preceded in death by parents, husband, and son-in-law, Dennis Ferguson.
