Arlene Barnes Obituary

Arlene Barnes passed away peacefully on November 5, 2021 with her family by her side.  She was born on December 17, 1927 to Rule and Bernice Morrison Abrams in Pana, Illinois.  She is survived by her daughters Barbara Walker (Dr. Philip) and Polly Barnes of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  She is also survived by her grandsons Robert B. Walker (Jen) of Gardnerville, Nevada, Dr. Matthew P. Walker (Odette) of Middlebury, Vermont, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and Dr. Benjamin J. Walker (Dr. Roberta Strigel) of Madison, Wisconsin.  She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ty and Will of Nevada, Laszlo, Sepp and Silas of Amsterdam and Olivia and Simon in Madison.  Her older sister, Gloria Webb, survives her in Harlingen, Texas along with her children, Mark, Susan and Anthony.

Arlene was married on July 30, 1945 to William J. Barnes and they resided in Hillsboro, Illinois, for many years.  Bill passed away in 1975 and later on she met Fred Mitchell and they spent many happy times in Florida and Canada until he passed away in 1998.  She then moved to Sheboygan in 2000 to be closer to her family.

The family is forever grateful for the support given by Dr. Nick Barnes and the tender and compassionate care provided by Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Let it be said that she was a proud and independent woman to the very end, surviving most of her dear friends and loved ones but very fortunate to experience a good and full life of nearly 94 years.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL. Rev Matt Ferguson Pastor of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, IL will officiate.
