Anita Rundquist Obituary

Anita T. Rundquist, 97, of Butler, IL, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs, IL. Private services will be held.

Mrs. Rundquist was born on March 9, 1925 in Butler, IL to the late Rudy and Fern (Busby) Turner. She was a Hillsboro High School Graduate, Class of 1943; she attended the University of Illinois and received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics in 1947; and later received her Honorary Doctorate from Illinois College, after serving as a Trustee for 22 years. Mrs. Rundquist married John F. Rundquist on February 22, 1948 in Urbana, IL and he survives. Her devotion to her faith, her husband and her family were the center of her life. Mrs. Rundquist was a lifelong member of the Butler Union Church. She loved to sing and had a beautiful soprano voice. She played the piano and organ at the Butler Union Church for decades. She was involved in 4-H in her youth and later lead the Butler Grove Lassies 4-H Club for many years.

Mrs. Rundquist is survived by her children, Ann (husband, Jim) Butler; Barbara (husband, George) Clark; John (wife, Sherri) Rundquist; Martha (husband, Mark) O’Mara; and Becky (husband, Wayne) Wedekind; her grandchildren, John (wife, Kristal) Rundquist; Tyler Rundquist (special friend Victoria Sobeck); Kate Wedekind; Mike (wife, Cassie) O’Mara; and Kevin O’Mara (special friend Rose Perales); great-granchildren, Bode Niemeier, Bryce Niemeier, August Rundquist, and Aspen Rundquist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Fern (Busby) Turner; and her grandson, Andrew Wedekind.

Memorials may be given to Montgomery County 4-H Foundation and Butler Union Church in Butler, IL
