Velma Rose (Craig) Fesser

Velma Rose Fesser, 89, of Hillsboro, IL, formerly of Fillmore, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at 4:15 p.m. at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living, Hillsboro, IL.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Fillmore, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Fillmore, IL.  Rev. Jim Vargo, Pastor of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Fillmore, IL, will officiate.  Burial will take place in Glendale Cemetery, Fillmore, IL.

Mrs. Fesser was born on June 6, 1928, in North Hurricane Township near Bingham, IL, to the late Carl and Edith (Lloyd) Craig.  She was a graduate of Ramsey High School, Ramsey, IL.  She married Fred A. Fesser on February 22, 1950, in Belleville, IL, and he preceded her in death on December 19, 2010.  She was a housewife and farm wife.  Mrs. Fesser was a Care Volunteer at Hillsboro Hospital; and member of Home Extension; St. Matthew Lutheran Church; Gleaner Club; 4-H Leader and loved to garden, cook and visit with family and friends.  Mrs. Fesser lived most of her life in Bingham and Fillmore areas until moving to Hillsboro for the last four years.

Mrs. Fesser is survived by 4 children, Rosalie Fesser, Fort Collins, CO; Rosanne (husband Ed) Heck, Nokomis, IL; Rhonda (husband Dale) Joyce, Witt, IL and Carl Ray (wife Jayne) Fesser, Fillmore, IL; 8 grandchildren, Jarrett (wife Nicole) Joyce; Zach (wife Michelle) Joyce; Emily (husband Jared) Klinefelter; Kirbee (husband Nathan) Womble; Mallory (husband Jeremy) Reid; Mitch Fesser; Mason Fesser and Mia Fesser; 8 great-grandchildren, Treven Foster; Connor Joyce; Cassidy Joyce; Ella Klinefelter; Lola Klinefelter; Olivia Joyce and Lynzie and Liam Reid; 1 sister, Valeria Reiss, Decatur, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Fesser was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Virginia Toberman and Val Craig.

Memorials may be given to Hillsboro Area Hospital; St. Matthew Lutheran Church; Glendale Cemetery or Donor's Choice.
