Robert Douglas "Cob" Jones, 93, of Litchfield, IL passed on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 12:36 p.m. at his residence. A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Cremation rites were accorded.
Mr. Jones was born October 29, 1924, in Coffeen, IL, to the late Thomas & Lizzie (Coffee) Jones. He attended Coffeen Schools and served in the Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Beatty DD640 and USS Ingraham DD694. He married Kathryn L. Codemo, they later divorced. He had worked as a Sheet Metal worker out of Local 268 in Caseyville, IL. Mr. Jones had lived in Coffeen, IL; Hillsboro, IL; Edwardsville, IL and Litchfield, IL.
Mr. Jones is survived by one daughter, Jane King of Aurora, CO; grandchildren; great grandchildren; one brother, Bill (wife Sue) Jones of Coffeen, IL and Golden Retriever Granddog, Cooper. Along with his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by one son, Terry Robert Jones; three brothers, Glenwood Jones, Merle Jones & Tom Jones; three sisters, Doris Alexander, Lil Jones & Shirley Jones.
Memorials may be given to Kershaw Harmer V.F.W. Post #1306 and Moncravie American Legion Post #425 - Irving Funeral Honor Guard or Disabled American Veterans.
