Robert Frances Criswell, 90, of Hillsboro, IL passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 8:10 a.m. at his residence. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Jeff Hemken, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.
Mr. Criswell was born, May 13, 1928, to the late Earl and Selma (Green) Criswell, He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, served in Germany and Attibury, IN. Mr. Criswell married Lila Sellers on August 15, 1954, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL. She survives in Hillsboro, IL. He had worked as a Carpenter, for 62 years, with Carpenter’s Local 270 in Springfield, IL and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL, for 72 years, where he held many positions within the church in those years; he loved to be outdoors & gardening, was a bee keeper, and enjoyed working with wood.
Along with his wife, Mr. Criswell is survived by two children, Cathy (husband Edward) Butler of Hillsboro, IL and Alan (wife LaDeana) Criswell of Mount Vernon, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jamie (husband Nathan) Bigge, Ashley Criswell (fiancé Austin Zentmyer), Todd Butler and Chad (wife Cheryl) Butler; six great grandchildren, Alexis Bigge, Zoey Bigge, Liam Bigge, Jordan Butler (fiancé John Durbin), Abbie (husband Kevin) Deaton and Mackenzie (husband Justin) Weatherford; four great great grandchildren, Huntley & Archer Durbin; and Braelynn & Landon Deaton and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Lee Butler & his siblings, May (husband Jonny) Miller, Eileen (husband Wayne) Lippard, June (husband Tommy) Clark, Leroy (wife Dorcas) Criswell and Kenneth (wife Anna) Gunn.
