Norma Jean Smith

Norma Jean Smith, age 71, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 9:12 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab Center, Taylor Springs, IL.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg, IL. Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.  A memorial dinner will be held at the Taylor Springs Community Building in Taylor Springs, IL following graveside service.

Norma was born on December 12, 1945 at Mulberry Grove IL to the late Virgil and Ruby (Diamond) Sugg.  She attended Mulberry Grove Schools. Her marriage to Samuel Henry Smith was on January 5, 1962 at Fillmore IL and he preceded on January 13, 2015.  She was a homemaker and  had worked as a secretary for Area Wide Plumbing. Norma was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing bingo and going to the bakery every morning for the Coffee Club.  

Survivors include three children, Cindy (husband Mark) Laurent, Taylor Springs IL; Jim (wife Denise) Smith, Hillsboro IL; Tim Smith, Hillsboro, IL; five grandchildren, Josh Laurent, Jennifer (husband Brian) Hendricks, Keith Smith, Nathan (wife Savanna) Smith, Tyler Smith; two great-grandchildren, Camden Hendricks, Alexa Hendricks and one sister-in-law, Mildred Smith. She was preceded by two sisters, Mildred Sugg in infancy and Violet McCray.

Memorials are suggested to Williams Syndrome Foundation.
