Nancy Sue Miller, 76, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 18th, 2019, at 10:45 a.m. at Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Taylor Springs, IL. A visitation will be held, Wednesday, July 24th, 2019, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.
Ms. Miller was born on November 17, 1942, in Hillsboro, IL to the late Hugh and Verna (Rice) Atterberry. She was a 1960 graduate of Hillsboro High School; 1970 graduate of Cal State University, CA with Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology; and in 1982 she received a Master’s degree in education from Sangamon State University, Springfield, IL. Ms. Miller was an English teacher at Auburn High School in Auburn, IL from 1973 to 2005, she retired after 32 years. Ms. Miller lived in Hillsboro, IL; California for 6-8 years; Auburn, IL; and Springfield, IL. She married Kenny Miller, who preceded her in death.
Ms. Miller is survived by one brother, David (wife, Marla) Atterberry, of Coffeen, IL; two sisters, Verna Buerkett of Springfield, IL, and Beverly (husband, Kenneth) Meyer of Hillsboro, IL; as well as 13 nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Ms. Miller was also preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Atterberry and Donald Atterberry as well as four nephews.
Memorials may be given to the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
