Minnie Eskew Obituary

Minnie Elizabeth (Freytag) Eskew, 93, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at 3:20 p.m., at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Taylor Springs, IL.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Burial will take place in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Litchfield, IL.  Mark Noyes, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.

Mrs. Eskew was born on January 1, 1925 in Plainview, IL to the late Fritz and Augusta (Runge) Freytag.  She married Richard Gene Eskew on April 25, 1944 in Carlinville, IL and he preceded her on September 5, 2009.  Mrs. Eskew lived in Plainview, IL; Carlinville, IL; Litchfield, IL; Hudson, FL; and Hillsboro, IL during her lifetime.  She was a homemaker; a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Montgomery County Senior Citizens Center; attended the Free Methodist Church, Hillsboro,IL; loved to travel with her friends, especially her best friend, Mable Murray; go out to dinner; visit with family; and to play cards once a week with her card group.  

Mrs. Eskew is survived by her four children, Karen (husband Roland) Gunn of Waverly, IL, Susan (husband Robert) Schwandner of Staunton, IL, Richard (wife Melissa) Eskew of Hillsboro, IL, and Terry (wife Connie) Eskew of Hillsboro, IL; seven grandchildren, Chad Whitten (fiancee Jennifer Russ), Erica Emmett; Rhett (wife Devyn) Eskew, Claire (husband Thomas) Reynolds, Morgan Gunn, Sarah (husband Daniel) Fales, and Derek (wife Megan) Eskew; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob and Kailynn Fales, Jonathan and Ila Rose Emmett, and Charley Ann Marie Eskew; a brother-in-law, William Leonatti; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Eskew and Dorothy Kates; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Eskew was also proceded in death by nine siblings.

Memorials may be given to Operation Smiles, Montgomery County Senior Citizens Center or Meals on Wheels.
