Melvin L Zimmerman

Melvin L. Zimmerman, 78, of Hillsboro, IL passed on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Generations at Lincoln in Lincoln, IL.  A visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlinville, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlinville, IL.  The Rev. John Henry, Pastor of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlinville, IL, will officiate.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL.

Mr. Zimmerman was born on April 16, 1940, in Lincoln, IL to the late Melvin S. and Lois Marie (Shea) Zimmerman. He was a Graduate of Lincoln High School in Lincoln, IL, and received a BA from SIU-C in 1964. He also attended the School of Ministry through the Episcopal Diocese of Springfield, IL. Mr. Zimmerman worked as a nursing home administrator for several facilities throughout Illinois. He married Jean May Stewart on June 26, 1965 at Wheaton Methodist Church. She proceded in death on March 2, 2011. Mr. Zimmerman was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Carlinville, IL, Boy Scouts of America Troop 90 Leader & Lions Club in Hillsboro, IL. He loved fishing and gardening. 

Mr. Zimmerman is survived by seven children, Melissa "Lisa" (Husband Mike) Sczerba, Urbana, IL; Rebecca Tyson, Peoria, IL; Dr. David Lynne (Wife Charlene) Zimmerman, Nashville, TN; Kathryn Dobrinich, Litchfield, IL; Bryan W. Tobias Zimmerman, Hillsboro, IL; James Robert Donald (Wife Mari) Zimmerman, Poplar Bluff, MO; Mereka Suzanna Page, Hillsboro, IL; one brother, Anthony Zimmerman, Lincoln, IL; a niece and a nephew; fourteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Carlinville, IL.
