Melvin E. Stolte, 86, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at 11:17 p.m. at Heritage Manor of Pana, Pana, IL. Cremation rites were accorded. A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Rev. James Bailie, Pastor of Schram City Baptist Church, Schram City, IL will officiate. Private burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Witt, IL at a later date.
Mr. Stolte was born on October 16, 1931 in Nokomis, IL to the late Martin John and Lydia (Altevogt) Stolte. He was a 1950 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL and worked as a laborer in construction. Mr. Stolte lived in Nokomis, IL; Irving, IL; and Hillsboro, IL. He married Linda Lou Walker in 1975 and she preceded him on November 27, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Mr. Stolte was a member of the American Legion in Litchfield, IL and the VFW in Litchfield, IL.
Mr. Stolte is survived by three daughters, Joyce Seddon of Nokomis, IL; Karen Huston of Nokomis, IL; and Brenda McMains of Nokomis, IL; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Everett Stolte of Irving, IL and Marvin Stolte of Hillsboro, IL.
Mr. Stolte was also preceded by a brother, Elmer Stolte.
