Mark W. Caldwell, 64, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at 7:40 a.m., at his residence. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Burial will be at a later date. Cremation rites were accorded. Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate. Family requests casual dress, jeans preferred.
Mr. Caldwell was born on January 28, 1955, in Hillsboro, IL, to the late Donald and Martha Alberta (Shelton) Caldwell. He was a 1973 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL and worked as a coal miner for 30 years at Crowne 3 Mine in Farmersville, IL. Mr. Caldwell lived in the Hillsboro, IL area his entire lifetime. He married Denise Hammond and they later divorced. He married Annette Keith on April 1, 1993 in Hillsboro, IL and she survives in Hillsboro, IL. Mr. Caldwell was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose since 1979, Hillsboro Lodge #1377, a member of United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) Local 12; loved to garden, play darts and pool, and spending time in his garage.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Caldwell is survived by four children, Mark Lee (wife Jennifer) Caldwell of Maryville, IL, Michelle Caldwell (fiance Jeffrey Grundy) of Harvel, IL. Sonia (husband Chad) Wehrle of Vandalia, IL, and Kenneth (wife Kara) Rickman of Yelm, WA; eight grandchildren, Kerstie, Kayla, Radley, Rainey, Shyann, Summer, Paige, and Leah; two great-grandchildren, Wrenae and Wraina; two brothers and two sisters, Kevin Caldwell of Bloomington, IL; Michael (wife Melissa) Caldwell of Hillsboro, IL; Gail (husband Ronald) Bergschneider of Harvel, IL; and Tammy (husband Keith) Johnson of Auburn, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
