Kathryn L (Kirkendoll) Smith

Kathryn L. "Kathy" Smith, age 67, of Coffeen IL passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 8:49 p.m. at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis MO.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home, Coffeen, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home, Coffeen, IL.  Burial will take place in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

Mrs. Smith was born on April 29, 1949, in Taylorville, IL, to the late Clarence W. "Pete" and Virginia Marie (Baldwin) Kirkendoll.  She was a graduate of Kincaid High School, Kincaid, IL.  She attended Springfield Business College and Lincoln Land Community College, both in Springfield, IL, and worked as a Teacher's Aide.  Mrs. Smith lived in Kincaid, IL; St. Louis, MO; and Coffeen, IL.  She married Terrence Dale Smith on December 14, 1968 at First Christian Church, Taylorville, IL and he preceded her on March 24, 2008.  Mrs. Smith was a member of United Methodist Church in Coffeen, IL and active with PAWS Care.  She was a devoted dog lover and a devoted and loving caregiver.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two children, Terrence Dale Smith, II (wife Lindsey Marie Pilcher) of Ventura, CA and Suzanne Renee Smith of Coffeen, IL; and one brother, Norman Kirkendoll of Nokomis, IL.  She is also survived by her puppy, Tippy, and grandpuppies Piper, Dobby & Stewie.  She was also "Meow Ma" to Maggie J.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Kirkendoll and Michael Kirkendoll; a sister, Peggy Kirkendoll; and a half sister, Thelma Dale.

Memorials may be given to PAWS Care in Hillsboro, IL or PAWS Works in Ventura, CA.
