Joseph "Joe" Gutierrez

Joseph "Joe" Michael Gutierrez, age 72, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 3:10 a.m. at his residence in Hillsboro IL.  Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Hillsboro, Il with Father Daniel Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church serving as Celebrant.  Visitation will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro.  Burial will be in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Hillsboro, with Military Rites by V.F. W. Post #1306 and American Legion post #425.

Mr. Gutierrez was born on September 13, 1945 at Taylor Springs IL to the late Miguel and Gregoria (Delgado) Gutierrez. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and an Army Veteran having served his country during the Vietnam Era. He had worked for General Motors at St. Louis MO and Wentzville MO. He was a member of United Auto Workers Union; St. Agnes Catholic Church, Hillsboro and was a Volunteer at St. Agnes Catholic Church.  Joe was an avid bass fisherman and a Youth Baseball Coach.

Joe was married to Linda Dolan and later divorced.  His companion in life, Cindy Hayen, survives in Hillsboro IL.  Also surviving is a son, Derek Gutierrez, Nokomis IL; three grandchildren, Natalie Gutierrez, Taylor Gutierrez and Nick Coghlan; brother, Arthur Gutierrez, Taylor Springs IL; sisters, Luci Walker, Fairmont City IL, Evangeline Marsee, Hillsboro IL and Juanita Boehler, Safford AZ.  Preceded in death were Joe's son, Jamie William Gutierrez on September 29,1994, siblings, Jess Gutierrez, John Gutierrez, Manuel Gutierrez, Betty Rangel, Esperanza Velez Wright, and Buck Velez.
