John Stephen "Steve" Eades, 79, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 5:06 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehab & Health Care Center, Hillsboro, IL. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro IL, with Father Daniel Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Mr. Eades was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 21, 1938, the son of the late Walter and Faye Eades.  John Stephen Eades moved to Litchfield from Bushnell, Illinois in the early 1950's when his family started one of the earliest Dairy Queens.  Steve operated the Litchfield Dairy Queen for 30 years and then worked at Casey's for 15 years as a retirement job as a donut maker.  He was a lifetime member of the Elks.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid sports fan liking the Oakland Raiders, Chicago Blackhawks, Notre Dame and St. Louis Cardinals.  He had many interests collecting train memorabilia and neon signs and liked to travel.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Roberts; son, Walter (Wally) Eades and brother, Jerome (Jerry) Eades.

He is survived by stepbrothers, Mike (wife Kathleen) Wynn of Florida and Scott (wife Jenny) Wynn of Scottsdale, Arizona; granddaughters, Adrienne (husband Ryann) McFee and Erin Roberts; grandson, Mason Dunn; great grandchildren, Noah and Anna McFee, all from Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and significant other, Carolyn Sue Ginos.

Memorials may be given to the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
