Ila Allene (Ruppe) Butler

Ila Allene (Ruppe) Butler, 92, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 6:58 pm at Montgomery County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 12:00 pm at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Don Hudelson will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will take place in Cress Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL at a later date.

Ms. Butler was born on September 19, 1927 to the late Walter and Cordia Gertrude (Elam) Ruppe. She was a graduate of Coffeen High School in Coffeen, IL. Ms. Butler married Edward Louis Butler at her parents’ home in Coffeen, IL in August 1947; he preceeded in death on September 1, 1983. Ms. Butler and her husband Edward ran a grocery store together, she worked for Glichman Plumbing, and she also helped her husband and son with their rental properties and laundromats.  She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Group, and she collected and delivered clothing to the Appalachia in London, KY for over 20 years, and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. Ms. Butler lived in Coffeen, IL and Hillsboro, IL throughout her life.

Ms. Butler is survived by her son- Edward Lee (wife, Cathy) Butler of Hillsboro, IL; two grandchildren- Eric Todd Butler and Steven Chad Butler; three great grandchildren- Jordan Butler, Abbie Butler, and Mackenzie Weatherford; four great-great grandchildren- Huntley Durbin, Archie Durbin, Braelynn SanMiguel, and Landon Deaton; as well as one brother- George Ruppe of Vandalia, IL; and special friend Dale Boyd. Along with her parents, Walter and Cordia Gertrude (Elam) Ruppe, and husband, Edward Louis Butler; Ms. Butler was preceeded in death by her sister, Imogene (Ruppe) Hudelson, and grandchild Lee Butler.
