Dorothy A. Gunn, 80, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Hillsboro Rehab and Health Care Center in Hillsboro, IL. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at 10:00 A.M., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Ralph Ward, of Hillsboro, IL, will officate. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery in rural Hillsboro, IL.
Mrs. Gunn was born August 9, 1937, in Decatur, IL, to the late Vernon L. and Marguerite (Gallagher) Terneus. She is a 1955 Graduate of Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, IL and had worked as a bookkeeper for the Hillsboro School District in Hillsboro, IL. She married Charles Darrel “Shorty” Clinard and they later divorced. She then married Merlyn E. Gunn, on June 30, 1976, in Tennessee. Mr. Gunn preceded in death on November 2, 2010. Mrs. Gunn loved quilting, bowling, her card clubs, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Mrs. Gunn is survived by her four children, Jim (Wife, Becky) Clinard of Olgesby, IL, Bev McCoy of Hillsboro, IL, Bill (Wife, Robin) Clinard of Hillsboro, IL & Kim (Husband, John) Waters of Woburn, IL; nine grandchildren, Aaron (Wife, Erin) McCoy, Williamsport, Maryland; Cody (Wife, Kelby) McCoy, Irving, IL; Kevin (Wife, Larissa) Clinard, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; Andi (Husband, Eric) Bjerkaas, North Utica, IL; Brittany (Wife, Kimberly) Clinard, Normal, IL; Josh (Fiancé, Katie Strain) Clinard, High Ridge, Missouri; Nate Clinard, Hillsboro, IL; Shannon Niehaus, Hillsboro, IL & Alyssa Niehaus, Hillsboro, IL; twelve great grandchilren; three brothers, Vernon L. Terneus, Jr. of Hillsboro, IL; John C. (Wife, Mary) Terneus of Hillsboro, IL & Thomas G. (Wife, Carole) Terneus of Chesterfield, MO; and one sister, Mickie (Husband, Mike) Gaither of Lakeland, FL. Along with her parents and husband, Mis. Gunn was preceded in death by one brother, Larry J. Terneus.
