Dorothy L. Clanton, age 78, of Coffeen, IL passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 3:47 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. Visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Funeral service will be Friday, June 16, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Burial will take place in Donnellson Cemetery, Donnellson, IL. Rev. Ralph Ward, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.
Mrs. Clanton was born on April 23, 1939, in Walshville Twp. IL, to the late George and Eva (Keeling) Loew. She married Frank "Wes" Clanton on December 28, 1956, in Sorento, IL, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Clanton was a homemaker. She lived in New Douglas, IL through the 7th grade, then moved to the Sorento Area; after marriage moved to Panama, IL for a short time, then moved to Donnellson, IL from 1957 - 1978; moving to Schram City, IL and then to Coffeen, IL in 1992. Mrs. Clanton was a member of New Douglas Baptist Church and past member of South Fillmore Home Extension. She loved to play cards and visit with people.
Mrs. Clanton is survived by one son, Wesley (wife Brenda) Clanton, Hanna City, IL; one daughter, Penny Harbert (Fiance' Mark Massey), Coffeen, IL; four grandchildren, Carrie (husband Donovan) Smail; Stephanie (husband Jeremy) White; Amy Zumwalt and Jody Clanton; two step-grandchildren, Meade (wife Nichole) Massey and Jessica (husband Andy) Brockhahn; five great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; one brother, George (wife Virginia "Micky") Loew; one sister, Wilma (husband LeRoy) Schoen and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Margaret Clanton.
Mrs. Clanton was also preceded in death by one step-grandchild, Kassey Massey; one brother, Charles Loew; and one sister, Mabel Lawyer.
Memorials may be given to Donnellson Cemetery, Donnellson, IL.
