Betty Catherine Whitworth, 92, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at 1:55 a.m. at Tremont Ridge, Hillsboro, IL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Funeral Services will be held following the visitation at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Ralph Ward of Hillsboro, IL, and Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.
Mrs. Whitworth was born on July 11, 1926, in Hillsboro, IL to the late Lemuel and Hattie (Boyd) Sharp. She was a 1942 Graduate of Coffeen High School, Coffeen, IL and worked for the Sears & Roebuck store in Hillsboro, IL. When it closed she operated her own Sears catalog store in Hillsboro, IL. Mrs. Whitworth lived in Hillsboro, IL her entire life. She married Ralph Whitworth on September 24, 1949 in Coffeen, IL and he proceded in death on January 8, 1998. Mrs. Whitworth was a member of Business and Professional Women; United Methodist Church of Hillsboro, IL, in which she was very active, serving any dinners that the church provided. She volunteered at the gift shop in the Hillsboro Area Hospital. Mrs. Whitworth loved to spend time with grandchildren, and loved traveling with her husband.
Mrs. Whitworth is survived by her son, Mike (Wife Melody) Whitworth of Columbia, MO; one grandchild, Allyson (Husband Nathan) Loucks of Highland, IL and two great-grandchildren, Nolan Loucks, and Drew Loucks of Highland, IL.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Whitworth was proceeded in death by one brother, Tom Sharp and four sisters, Laura Davis, Ruby Fuller, Helen Jurgena, and Mattie Mountz.
Memorials may be given to United Methodist Church of Hillsboro, IL, and the Hillsboro High School Choir program.
