October 16, 1962 ~ April 30, 2017 (age 54) 54 Years Old

B.J. Severs, 54, of Holiday Shores, IL, formerly of Coffeen, IL, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, at St. Louis University Hospital, from injuries sustained in a car accident on April 18th, near Holiday Shores.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.  A second day of visitation will be on Thursday, May 4, 2017, from 3 to 6 pm at Bass, Patton, Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Illinois, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 6 p.m.  Pastor James Hayes and Rev. Robin R. Lyons will officiate.  Cremation rites will be accorded.

He was born October 16, 1962, in Carbondale, Illinois, the son of John Severs and Margaret (Rees) Scheifer.  He married Sheila Brookman on September 12, 1987, at Coffeen United Methodist Church. She survives in Holiday Shores, Illinois.  B.J. owned and operated The Side Pocket Bar and Billiard Room in Pontoon Beach for 16 years. B.J., his wife, and Velvet Balmer were also owners of Midwest Roasters and Grillers, a mobile food company, for several years. Most recently, he co-owned Overflow Response Services, an environmental cleanup company in Bethalto, for the past 3 years. He was a member of the Edwardsville Moose Lodge #1561 and the Montgomery County Pool League. He enjoyed sports, golf, playing poker, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren, especially when they had the opportunity to feed the ducks at their home.

In addition to his wife, B.J. is survived by his mother and step father, Margaret and Ronnie Scheifer of Hillsboro; two daughters, Sara Severs and her fiancé, Keenan Hobick of Collinsville, Stephanie Severs of Holiday Shores and her significant other, Isaiah Mark of Alton; two grandchildren, Nevaeh and Karson; two siblings, J.C. and Debb Severs of O’Fallon, Illinois, Allen Ray and Kelli Severs of Chatham, Illinois; one niece, Devin Jo Inman and her husband Perry of Olive Branch, Mississippi; and one nephew, Darek Severs and his wife Jessica, of Auburn, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his father; his maternal grandparents, Pearl and Woodie Lane; paternal grandparents, Ward and Vivian Severs; and two aunts, Vera Severs and Stella Mae Luttrell.
