Armour O. Beckerman, 94, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 2:34 p.m., at Hillsboro Area Hospital, Hillsboro, IL. Private graveside services will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL. Mark Noyes, Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.
Mr. Beckerman was born on July 25, 1924 in Oakford, IL to the late Henry and Emma Beckerman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing action at Omaha Beach and Battle of the Bulge, worked as an installer and lineman for GTE and Illinois Consolidated, and owned and operated Beckerman Tree Service. Mr. Beckerman lived in Petersburg, IL until the 1950's when he moved to Hillsboro, IL. He married Mary Lou Foster on January 15, 1947 in Petersburg, IL and she preceded him on May 21, 2001. Mr. Beckerman was a past member of the Moose, was a very hard working man, loved to collect coins, loved his cats, and loved Big Band music
Mr. Beckerman is survived by his children, Robert Beckerman of Hillsboro, IL, Michael Beckerman of St. Louis, MO, Brian (wife Wendy) Beckerman of Petersburg, IL, Connie Beckerman of Wilmette, IL, Cathy Beckerman of Hillsboro, IL, and Cheryl Arthur of Hillsboro, IL; and six grandchildren, Abby Beckerman, Conner Beckerman, Celia Beckerman, Lindsey Lahmeyer, Perry Arthur, and Spencer Arthur.
Mr. Beckerman was also preceded in death by a sister, and a granddaughter, Kristen Lahmeyer.
