William Harrel Clinard, 87, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at 9:45 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab in Taylor Springs, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL, with the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Mark Noyes and Rev. Ralph Ward will officiate. There will be a private family inurnment in Ware’s Grove Cemetery in Butler, IL with Military Rites by Department of Defense.
Harrel was born June 30, 1936, in Palmer, IL, to Ward and Dorothy (Kurfiss) Clinard. Both have preceded. Graduating in 1954 from Raymond High School in Raymond, IL, he went on to join the U.S. ARMY. He married Katherine Caroline Hoffman on August 21, 1959, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, IL. She preceded on September 14, 2020. He was employed as a manager at Allis Chalmers in Springfield, IL; then a Production manager at Echlin Brake Parts, Litchfield, IL; and also, along with his wife, owned and operated Henry’s Greenhouse in Hillsboro, IL. that is now Robin’s Nest Florist.Harrel attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and cleaned the church for many years.He was a member of the Masonic Temple in Springfield, IL. and the Hillsboro Illinois Auxiliary Police. He coached girls softball for his daughters and granddaughters and he loved to run.
He is survived by his children, Michelle (husband, Junior) Whitlow of Hillsboro, IL; Duane (wife, Deanna) Clinard of Irving, IL; and Stacey (husband, Randy) Ward of Hillsboro, IL; Nine grandchildren, Brandi Reynolds, Daniel Whitlow, Brooke Mullink, Stephanie Tyson, Shaun Clinard, Blake Clinard, TressieClinard, Brodie Clinard, and Kayli Christer; twelve greatgrandchildren; and sister, Susan Carter of Morrisonville, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Charles Darrel “Shorty” Clinard; and brother-in-law, Art Carter.
