Willard LeVerne Baker, age 92, of Hillsboro IL, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:20 p.m. at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL. Funeral Services will be on Monday, March 9, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Hillsboro IL with Rev. Mike Skinner, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery, rural Hillsboro IL. Visitation will be on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church.
Mr. Baker was born on May 26, 1922 at Pawnee, IL to the late John and Susie (Lee) Baker. He married Norma Lee Watson on December 20, 1946 in the Parsonage of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Ezra Keller officiating. He had resided at Pawnee, Raymond and Hillsboro IL. During WW II, he served in the Army in the South Pacific. After 28 years of working at Hillsboro Glass, he retired in 1984. His membership at First Baptist Church, Hillsboro, was more than 62 years.
Along with his wife, Norma, he is survived by three children, Barbara Garber, Kernersville NC; Carolyn Sue (husband Joe) Bergman, Hillsboro; Terry (wife Midge) Baker, Hillsboro; twelve grandchildren & three step-grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren & six step-great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren & two step-great great grandchildren. Preceding in death were son-in-law, James Garber, two grandchildren, one great grandson, two brothers and three sisters.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Hillsboro IL.
