Vickie Jean Slagel

Vickie Jean Slagel, age 63, of Taylor Springs, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 4:56 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Taylor Springs, IL.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at St. James Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL.  A fellowship gathering will take place after the service until 3:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall next door to St. James Baptist Church.  Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church, will officiate.

Vickie was born on September 26, 1953 at Litchfield IL to Kenneth and Dorothy (Maroney) Matthews. Her father, Kenneth Matthews is deceased and her mother, Dorothy Matthews, survives at Taylor Springs IL. She attended Hillsboro High School and had worked at Echlin Brake Parts in Litchfield for 25 years. She had lived in the Hillsboro area, Wyoming and Vacaville CA. Vickie had attended Grace Fellowship Church at Fillmore IL.  Marriages to Gary White and Ron Slagel both ended in divorce.  

Survivors include 2 daughters, Stacy (husband Clark) Cameron, Hillsboro IL and Erinn Walton, Taylor Springs IL; seven grandchildren, Lexy Cameron, Carly Cameron, Morgan Thrasher, Devon Hairston, Sarah Hairston, Torry Walton, Rozzalynn Walton; two great grandchildren, Skylynn Thrasher and Leham Thrasher. Siblings surviving are Debby Hampton, Taylor Springs; Rick (wife Cathy) Matthews, Taylor Springs; Terry (wife Vicki) Matthews, Hillsboro; Kelly (wife Alice) Matthews, Hillsboro; Chad (wife Renee) Matthews, Taylor Springs; Rusty (wife Amy) Boucher, Greenville, and Jami Boucher, Redding CA.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
