Stella J (Edwards) Kasten

Stella J. Kasten, 88, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 2:20 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral service will be on Friday, March 31, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL.  Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.  Dr. Ronald Rhodus, Carlinville, IL, will officiate.

Mrs. Kasten was born on April 5, 1928, in Frankfort, KY to the late Rev. William and Elsie (Watchner) Edwards.  She married Roy B. Kasten on November 4, 1945, at the Assembly of God Church, Coffeen, IL, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2009.  Mrs. Kasten lived in Coffeen, IL and Hillsboro, IL area her entire adult life.  She was a Housewife and Farm Wife and member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL, where she taught Sunday School for awhile.  She loved spending time with her family, knitting, sewing, crocheting and embroidering.

Mrs. Kasten is survived by three children, Arlen (wife Patricia) Kasten, Hillsboro, IL; Regena Kasten, Hillsboro, IL; and Ron Kasten, Greenville, IL; five grandchildren, Teresa Alexander, Litchfield, IL; Allen (wife Kayla) Kasten, Hillsboro, IL; Luke (wife Kara) Kasten, Normal, IL; Shonda (husband David) Ronen, Hillsboro, IL and Alisha Kasten, Hillsboro, IL; five great grandchildren, Braden Alexander, Daxton Ronen, Deklan Ronen, Chase Kasten and Kyla Kasten; and one sister, Mary Frances Wainscott, Plymouth, IN.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kasten was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Kasten, in infancy; four brothers, three sisters and three siblings in infancy.

Memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL.
