Russell A. Hughes, 76, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 5:05 p.m. at Hillsboro Rehab and Health Care, Hillsboro, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL, with funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Irving Cemetery, Irving, IL. Rev. Harry Kirk, Fillmore, IL, will officiate. Military Rites will be held at graveside by V.F.W. Post #1306 and American Legion Post #425.
Russell was born on October 13, 1940, to the late James and Harriet (Smith) Hughes, Jr. He was a farmer, truck driver and bus driver for Cavallo Bus Lines, having lived in the Hillsboro area most of his life. He married Viviane Rapidy, and they later divorced. He then married Linda Lloyd, and they later divorced. Russell served in the United States Army from 1959-1962, then served in the Reserves until 1965. He was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377 and Pheasants Forever.
Russell is survived by four children, Annette (husband Lance) Fuller, Hillsboro, IL; Beth (husband Brett) Ulrici, Irving, IL; Matt (wife Audra) Hughes, Hillsboro, IL and Mark (wife Emily) Hughes, Hillsboro, IL; nine grandchildren, Sami Jo Fuller, Nick Compagni, Joey Hughes, Brandon Mills, Marshall Hughes, Griffen Hughes, Hannah Hughes, Katelyn Hughes and Lola Hughes; one sister, Phyllis Uhlry, Hillsboro, IL and three brothers, Larry (wife Janice) Hughes, Moweaqua, IL; Ronald (wife Connie) Hughes, Sheridan, IL and Stanley (wife Delores) Hughes, Hillsboro, IL.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by one daughter, Evelyne M. Hughes; one sister, Shirley Hughes and one brother-in-law, Roland Uhlry.
Memorials may be given to the Montgomery County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund.
