Raymond Noble Brown

December 7, 1948 ~ August 13, 2017 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Born December 7, 1948 in Ishpeming, Michigan, Raymond Noble Brown (Binky), age 68, passed into our Savior’s loving arms on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at 11:07 p.m. at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.  Visitation will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.  Rev. Scott Kerens, Baldwin, MO, will officiate.

Raymond’s handicap of Downs Syndrome did not keep him from enjoying the most out of life.  His limited speech didn’t keep him from trying to express himself.  Raymond’s sparkling personality made him the center of attention.  He enjoyed living in several facilities during his life, most recently in Schram City Plaza.  He very much enjoyed going to work at FAYCO.  He loved books and would sit for hours looking at the pictures.  Though his handicap kept him from actual reading, he still had stories to tell about the pictures. One of his favorite animals and books was about dinosaurs.  He loved to tell scary stories in his own way about dinosaurs coming out of swamps. In past years, travel to see family in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan was a very favorite.  Family would stay at Uncle John’s cabin near a lake.  He loved the simple things in life, such as, food and drives along the lakes of Hillsboro and Donnellson.

Raymond is survived by his sister, Susan Kerens, of Harlingen, Texas, one nephew, Scott Kerens, of Baldwin, MO and one niece, Sara Kerens, of New York City, NY.  Preceding him in death were his parents, Beatrice and Raymond Brown (former Hillsboro Police Chief), of Donnellson, IL.

A very special thank you to all who worked with him.  He will very much be missed by all those who loved him.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made of children’s books to the Hillsboro Public Library, Bremer Sanctuary and Downs Syndrome Agencies.
