Ralph Edward Speiser

Ralph Edward Speiser, 90, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016, at 11:39 a.m. in Hillsboro, IL.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.  Rev. Ralph Ward of Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.

Mr. Speiser was born on November 3, 1925, in Witt, IL to the late Edward Henry and Clara Belle (Burton) Speiser.  He was a 1943 graduate of Witt High School in Witt, IL and served in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II.  Mr. Speiser was a truck driver for Martin Elevator, Hulcher Quarry and Caulk Trucking.  He lived in Witt, IL and Hillsboro, IL during his lifetime.  Mr. Speiser married Dixie Bandy on December 29, 1951, in Witt, IL, and she preceded him in death on July 22, 1976.  Mr. Speiser loved having coffee with his buddies everyday at Park 'N Eat, the bakery or Cozy Cafe and was an avid Cardinal fan.   He was a 70 year member of the American Legion and went on an Honor Flight, on June 14, 2011, with his son-in-law, Raymond Dorf.

Mr. Speiser is survived by one daughter, Debra (husband Raymond) Dorf, Hillsboro, IL; one son, Doug (wife Lori) Speiser, Hillsboro, IL; three grandchildren, Shannon (husband Matt) Micnheimer; Jason (wife Brittany) Dorf and Devin Speiser; and three great grandchildren, Gunnar Micnheimer and twins Mallory and Kinsley Dorf.

He was preceded in death by one son, Roger Lee Speiser on November 20, 1953, and one brother, Franklin Speiser.

Memorials may be given to the Hillsboro Sports Association or Montgomery County Cancer Association.
