Maynard Stokes

Maynard Stokes, 87, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, at 3:20 p.m. at Hillsboro Rehab and Health Care Center, Hillsboro, IL.  Visitation for Mr. Stokes will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.  Rev. James Hayes, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL will officiate.

Mr. Stokes was born on August 18, 1929, to the late Jesse and Bessie (Hoyt) Stokes.  He was a 1949 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL.  Mr. Stokes married Jean Urbancsik on October 14, 1950, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Hillsboro, IL, and she preceded him in death on January 21, 2014.  Mr. Stokes worked as a Brick Layer for Fuller Brothers Construction and also owned Stokes' Masonry.  He lived his entire life in Hillsboro, IL and was a member of Brick Layer Local #8 of Illinois in East Alton, IL.

Mr. Stokes is survived by one son, Roger (wife Betty) Stokes, Aurora, CO; one daughter, Rene Meintzer, Simi Valley, CA; five grandchildren, Cayla Flowers, Lori Stokes Murphy, Parker Meintzer, Payton Meintzer and Peri Meintzer and seven great grandchildren.

Mr. Stokes was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Stokes Flowers, one sister, Mildred Clotfelter, and one brother, Ron Stokes.

Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
