Julia Anne Henson, 91, of Hillsboro died Saturday, August 22, 2015 in St. Mary’s Mercy, Livonia, MI.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral services will be on Friday, August 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, IL.  Rev. Matt Ferguson, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.  McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana, IL and Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL are assisting the family.

She was born April 27, 1924 in Hillsboro, IL, the daughter of the late Charles Wade and Nelle Gertrude Barkley Murdoch.  A graduate of Hillsboro High School Class of 1942, she was a lifelong Hillsboro, IL resident.  Julia Anne Murdoch and Don C. Henson were united in marriage on December 5, 1943 in Hillsboro, IL.  They were married over 62 years before his death May 17, 2006.  She and her husband had enjoyed retirement time in Florida, as well as traveling. They were among the founding members who developed Avion Palms Resort in Florida where they wintered until 2003.  She stayed in Florida after the death of her husband. Julia Anne was a 75-year member of First Presbyterian Church, Hillsboro, IL where she had been very active for several years.  She was also an active member of the Avion Travel Club. 

Julia Anne went to work for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company in Hillsboro right after high school.  She later worked at the Litchfield office for a short while, then transferred to the Hillsboro office retiring as an Office Supervisor after about 40 years. She was very creative and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting.  She and her husband purchased their house on Hickory Street and designed and built many additions.  She loved to play the organ and piano, especially Dixie Land music.

She is survived by her children: Don C. Henson, Jr. & wife Martha Jane, Manistique, MI; Jane Pinkstaff & husband Paul, Livonia, MI; Sue Ann Fones & husband David, Seymour, IL; four grandchildren:  Dan Bass & wife Melissa, Livonia, MI; Amy Bass, Livonia, MI; Jordan Fones & wife Sarah, Chicago, IL; Ryan Fones, Indianapolis, IN; and two great grandchildren:  Abigail Bass and Jacob Murdoch Bass.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, David Murdoch.
