John Alan Balla

John Alan Balla, 56, of Hillsboro, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at 2:15 a.m. at his residence.  Cremation rites were accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Rocky Ford Park, Coffeen, IL.

John was born on September 28, 1959, to Daniel R. and Millie (Meffert) Balla.  Daniel preceded on January 4, 2000, and Millie survives in Donnellson, IL.  He was a 1977 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL.  John married Edna Vallbracht, on May 14, 1983, at Waveland Church, Donnellson, IL.  She survives in Hillsboro, IL.  He worked at Hillsboro Glass Plant, Hillsboro, IL, before closing and then worked as a Correctional Officer at Graham Correctional Center, Hillsboro, IL.  He was a member of Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377 and Donnellson Masonic Lodge.  John loved to fish and loved the outdoors.

John is also survived by two daughters, Amber (husband Kevin) DeMartini, Hillsboro, IL and Ivy Balla, Salem, IL; one grandson, Lucas DeMartini, Hillsboro, IL; two sisters, Barb (husband Denny) Winkler, Donnellson, IL and Sandy (husband Mark) Becker, Quincy, IL; and one brother, Danny Balla, Donnellson, IL.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Balla, on July 9, 1999.

Memorials may be given to Shriner's Hospital or Coats for Kids.
