Harold Grill, 84, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at 3:38 a.m. at his residence.  Private family services will be held at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Burial will take place in Irving Cemetery, Irving, IL with Military Rites at graveside by V.F.W. Post #1306 and American Legion Post #425.  Rev. Ralph Ward, Hillsboro, IL  will officiate.

Mr. Grill was born on May 1, 1931, in Irving, IL, to the late Martin and Rena (Schoeneweis) Grill.  He attended Irving High School, Irving, IL, until 1948, then graduated from Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL, in 1949.  He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.  Mr. Grill married Kay Simmons on February 14, 1959, in Hillsboro, IL, and she survives in Hillsboro, IL.  He worked as a laborer at Granite City Steel, Granite City, IL, and lived his entire life in the Irving, IL and Hillsboro, IL area.

Mr. Grill is also survived by one son, Kevin Michael Grill, Carbondale, IL; one daughter, Laura Grill (husband Vincent B.) Burritt, Irving, IL; five grandchildren, Amy, Amber, Andrew and Sam Golden and Vincent J. Burritt; and three great grandchildren, Enciin, Azairah and Seryn Golden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Joseph and William Grill.

Memorials may be given to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter, Hillsboro, IL or Adopt-A-Pet, Benld, IL.
