Geneva (Bess) Whitten

Effie "Geneva" Whitten, 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab in Taylor Springs, IL.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, 303 E. Cedar St., Fillmore, IL.  Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, at 3:00 p.m., at Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore, IL.  Rev. Myron Kirk, Pastor of Grace Fellowship Church, will officiate.  Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg, IL.

Mrs. Whitten was born on September 27, 1925, to the late Clifford Miles and Effie (Lawson) Bess.  She married Justin Neuenschwander in LaCrosse, WI, on December 6, 1944 and and later divorced.  She later married Easton Whitten in Coffeen, IL, and he preceded her in death.  During her lifetime she lived in California and Coffeen, IL and worked as a Nurse's Aide.  Mrs. Whitten was a member of Royal Neighbors, Red Hat Ladies, Liberty Christian Church, Brownstown, IL and attended Mt. Moriah Church, Coffeen, IL.  She volunteered for many years for HIS KIDS Cancer Support.

Mrs. Whitten is survived by four daughters, Cheryl Gracey, Sarasota, FL; Connie (husband James III) Miles, Highland, IL; Celene (husband William) Harrelson, Coffeen, IL and Catherine (husband Mark) Carlock, Fillmore, IL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one sister, Glenna Neuenschwander.

Mrs. Whitten was also preceded in death by four brothers, Laverne Bess, Wilbert Bess, Lawrence Bess and Curtis Bess; and one sister, Valerie Little.
