Gary Albert Heather

Gary Albert Heather, 68, of Butler, IL passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. at his residence.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.  Rev. John Jaffry, Pastor of Wares Grove Church, Butler, IL will officiate.

Mr. Heather was born on October 28, 1946, in Hillsboro, IL to the late Albert Leon and Evelyn Marie (May) Heather.  He married Karen Renken on November 22, 1993, in Hillsboro, IL, and she survives in Butler, IL.  He was a 1965 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL and earned an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Wabash Valley College.  He was a member of the Hillsboro Country Club and former member of the Taylor Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Taylor Springs, IL.  He loved being Papa to his grandkids, golfing, was an avid Cardinal fan and enjoyed basketball and baseball.  During his lifetime he lived in Taylor Springs, IL; Hillsboro, IL; Springfield, IL and rural Butler, IL.  He served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan.

Survivors include his wife, Karen, of Butler, IL; two daughters, Casey (husband Roy) Mayfield, Springfield, IL; Amy (husband Josh) Tucker, Jacksonville, IL; two grandchildren, Faye Louise Tucker and Joshua Triton Tucker, Jacksonville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dennis Lee "Bo" Heather.
