This is very belated, Aunt MariAnne just got a letter recently from Barbara-just wanted to share my condolence. I had not seen Uncle Harold since a small child at Grandmother Bertha's. My grandfather, Frank always spoke so lovingly of all his brothers and sisters. I always liked the story about Uncle Bob "baptizing" Uncle Harold with molasses when they were small children. My how he favored Grandpa! God Bless

I never met Harold but he and I are related on the Matthews side and we discussed family history from time to time. He seemed like a genuinely nice man. I'm sure his family misses him dearly and have my most sincere condolences.

Dr. Mathews was a "peach of a man" A real Christian educational leader on our campus. We served under his leadership and he was a blessing to us both as a professional and friend. What we need is more men of his stature and caliber. Rejoice while you grieve as he has a rich reward.

This message is so late because I just found out Mr. Mathews had passed. I thought the world coach ( as most knew him by ) He was the coach at East Jr. In the 9th grade the 3 teams he coached we won all football games, lost 1 basketball game by 3 pts and revenged that later and won all our track an field meets. He was my favorite teacher and coach of all times. I am so blessed to have had him as a coach. We invited him to our 40th class reunion and he came and made us all very happy.
God Bless you Coach
