Donald O. Cassidy, 76, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018, at 1:18 p.m. at his residence. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, IL. Rev. Jeff Hemken, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, IL will officiate. Burial will be in Cress Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Cassidy was born on August 15, 1941, in Rountree Township, Illinois to the late Owen and Erbedeen (Becker) Cassidy. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. Mr. Cassidy was a retired lineman with Illinois Power Company. He was an avid fisherman, world champion horseshoe pitcher and served in the Army during the Vietnam Era.
Mr. Cassidy is survived by three children, Karry (Roxanne) Cassidy, Litchfield, IL; Sheila (husband P.T.) Keller, Nokomis, IL and Donnie (Christine) Cassidy, Ashton, IL; seven grandchildren, Sophia Keller, Emma Keller, Ian Keller, Shelly Cassidy, Sierra Serrano, Tristan Cassidy, Urijah Cassidy; and one great grandchild, Nataleigh Cassidy.
Mr. Cassidy was also preceded in death by one son, Scott Cassidy, and one brother, Marvin Cassidy.
Memorials may be given to Bremer Sanctuary, Hillsboro, IL.
