Dale H. Gillis, 83, of Hillsboro, IL passed on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 7:36 p.m. at his residence. Cremation rites were accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Mr. Gillis was born July 3, 1934, in Rockdale, IL, to the late Carl F. & Jenny (Grant) Gillis. He was a 1952 Graduate of Joliet High School in Joliet, IL and had served in the Army. Mr. Gillis had worked for Common Wealth Edison as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Buyer. He married Arlene Aschbrenner on January 22, 1955 in Joliet, IL. She survives in Hillsboro, IL. He had lived in Rockdale, IL; Joliet, IL; Channahon, IL & moved to Hillsboro, IL in 1999. He attended Wares Grove Lutheran Church in Rural Butler, IL and loved hunting, fishing, boating, and motorcycle riding. He also had enjoyed golf in his younger years.
Along with his wife, Mr. Gillis is survived by three children, Heather (husband Timothy) Thompson of Minooka, IL; Greg C. Gillis of Port Orange, FL & Christine D. (husband Jeff) Pickett of Channahon, IL; five grandchildren, Coady (wife Ashley) Thompson, Logan Thompson (fiancé Jacey Wood), Austin Thompson, Dylan (wife Brittney) Pickett & Dalton Pickett; one great granddaughter, Riley Thompson and one sister, Virginia Dyson of Utah. He was preceded by his parents and one sister.
