Charles Owen Compton, Sr.

Charles Owen Compton, Sr., age 80, of Donnellson, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital, Hillsboro, IL. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro IL.  Rev. Ralph Ward, of Hillsboro, IL, will officiate.  Burial will be in Elm Point Cemetery, rural Donnellson, IL.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Compton was born  on November 16, 1934 at Walshville IL to the late Owen and Laverna Roberta (Havron) Compton.  His marriage to Lavena M. Huddleston took place at the Pentecostal Church in Sorento, IL on June 11, 1956 and she survives at Donnellson, IL.  He served his country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Owen was a farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau and Reno Baptist Church.  He had resided in Gary IN and Donnellson, IL.

Also surviving are his children, Charles O. Compton, Jr.(wife, Mary Ann), Donnellson, IL & Carey Layne "Sue" Niehaus (husband, Ron), Irving, IL; six grandchildren, Scottie Niehaus, Alicia Compton, Stephanie Compton, John Niehaus, Jason Diehl, Jeff Diehl; brothers, Clay Compton, David Compton, Edward Herb Compton and sisters, Algera Row, Gladys Cardova. Preceding in death were brothers, Walter Compton and Camby Compton and sister, Winifred Logan.
