Carl Emory Dudley, Jr., 94, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro, IL.  Cremation rites were accorded and no services are planned at this time.

Mr. Dudley was born in Vincennes, IN, on November 17, 1923, to the late Carl E. Dudley, Sr. and Hazel (Pierson) Tedrick.  He received his high school diploma while living in Birmingham, Alabama.  Mr. Dudley married Earline Saltsgaber in Mt. Carmel, IL in 1949, and she survives in Hillsboro, IL.  He worked for the Railroad having worked for New York Central, Penn Central, ConRail and Union Pacific Railroads.  Mr. Dudley was a member of Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377; VFW Post #1306; was one of the founding members of the Hillsboro Auxiliary Police; Salvation Army Volunteer and helped with Old Settler's.  He hunted, fished and loved woodworking and was very handy.  He also installed alarm systems on the side.  Mr. Dudley served in the Army Air Corp in Italy during World War II.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Dudley is also survived by two children, Darrell (wife Kathryn) Dudley, Broken Arrow, OK and Carla (husband Bruce) Etcheson, Vandalia, IL; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dudley was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.

Memorials may be given to the Hillsboro Public Library.
