Betty Jane Rottinghaus, 91, of Hillsboro, IL passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015, at 1:58 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Hillsboro, IL. There will be no visitation. Rev. Joy Caschetta, Pastor of United Methodist Church, Hillsboro, IL will be officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, IL.
Mrs. Rottinghaus was born on May 9, 1923, in Hillsboro, IL to the late George and Jane (Evans) Williams. She married Glenn Edwin Rottinghaus in 1945 in Hillsboro, IL, and they later divorced in 1970. She was a 1942 graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, IL. She lived her entire life in Hillsboro, IL working as a telephone operator, store clerk at Ben Franklin Store, Gregg's Hardware, Walker's Dime Store, Timm's Dime Store and Seltzer Department Store. She was very active in the Hillsboro community volunteering with Meals On Wheels, Library Reading Program, Women's Club, Garden Club, Historical Society of Montgomery County, United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church choir, Communion Steward, Salvation Army, Red Cross Blood Drive, Gift Shop at Hillsboro Hospital, I.C.C.A. Food Program, Bible School Helper and Old Settler's Association.
Mrs. Rottinghaus is survived by two sons, George Rottinghaus, Columbia, MO and David Rottinghaus, Lewistown, IL; seven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Henry Williams and two sisters, Edna Elledge and Ruby Hovan.
